Musee de l'Orangerie
Overview
A former orangery in the Tuileries Garden, built to shelter the palace's citrus trees in winter. In 1927 it opened Monet's eight monumental Water Lilies panels in two oval rooms lit from above, a gift the painter offered the nation after the Armistice of 1918. Downstairs, the Walter-Guillaume collection adds Renoir, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, Modigliani and Soutine.
