Museum of Islamic Art Doha
Overview
Designed by I.M. Pei, who came out of retirement in his nineties, the museum rises from its own island off Doha's Corniche. Its geometric limestone form was inspired by the ablution fountain of the Ibn Tulun Mosque in Cairo. The collection spans fourteen centuries of Islamic art from Spain to Central Asia, including manuscripts, ceramics, metalwork, glass and textiles.
