Natural History Museum Vienna
Overview
Opened by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1889 as the mirror-image twin of the Kunsthistorisches Museum across Maria-Theresien-Platz. Its halls hold meteorites, minerals, dinosaur skeletons and the Venus of Willendorf, a limestone figurine around 30,000 years old. Many rooms keep their original 19th century display cases and painted decoration.
