Ashmolean Museum
Overview
The world's oldest university museum and oldest public museum in Britain, opened to display the cabinet of curiosities of Elias Ashmole. The Alfred Jewel, the Portland Vase on loan tradition, and the greatest Minoan collection outside Crete are its treasures. Its 1866 cast gallery fed Victorian classical education.
