Museum of Science and Industry Chicago
Overview
Housed in the Palace of Fine Arts from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, one of the few buildings of the fair still standing. Backed by Sears president Julius Rosenwald, it opened in 1933. Highlights include the German submarine U-505, captured at sea in 1944, a full-scale replica coal mine, and the Pioneer Zephyr streamlined train.
