Pitt Rivers Museum
Overview
Founded in 1884 when General Augustus Pitt Rivers gave his collection to the University of Oxford. Objects are arranged by type rather than region, so masks, boats or musical instruments from across the world crowd together in Victorian cases. Visitors enter through the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. In 2020 it removed its shrunken heads from display as part of a review of its colonial past.
