Tokyo National Museum
Overview
Japan's oldest and largest museum, in Ueno Park since 1882. National treasures crowd the Honkan: samurai swords, kimono, Hokusai's Great Wave prints in rotation, Buddhist sculpture, and the Gallery of Horyuji Treasures by Yoshio Taniguchi. Founded the year Japan opened its first exposition.
