Yad Vashem
Overview
Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, established by law in 1953 on the Mount of Remembrance in Jerusalem. Moshe Safdie's prism-shaped history museum, opened in 2005, cuts straight through the hillside. The Hall of Names preserves pages of testimony for millions of victims, and the Righteous Among the Nations program honors non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews.
